·········• AUTHOR'S NOTE •·········
This was originally a mod of a card game clone we had to make (see above link in the credits!). For this game, I wanted to focus on modifying some of the fundamental game mechanics and redoing the assets. Made it so that you only get 1 card refilled after each round, instead of a full set: this completely changes the gameplay, giving you an easy way to logic out what the computer player has and requiring your steadfast attention as the cards go by!
This game was incredibly hard to code for me at the time, as a beginner, but I'm proud of how it turned out! This is mostly on my page to show my progress and some of the themes I like to explore in my work.
Fun Tidbit: Each character is a gijinka / humanized version of "rock," "paper" and "scissors," respectively!
Itch.io Web Build Update:
Getting this game to work on WebGL was straight up suffering. Apparently, WebGL and GameMaker, when combined, don't play nice with ds_lists and guess what?? This ENTIRE GAME is a bunch of ds_lists with some sprites on top. Siiiiiigh. Enjoy the product of our tears.
It took Ben (go support him, he deserves it after what he went through) a couple hours just to get it to WORK again and he's an insane and fast programmer... and shoutout to Lukas who also helped me get started and resolved some of the early bugs!
·········• KNOWN BUGS •·········
- On browser, if sound effects are not playing: click on the game, the browser should start playing sounds. If not, click around on the page/tab itself - sometimes browser tabs won't play sound unless you click somewhere.
- It's GameMaker. Anything can happen.
